“With a background of working in the military and the Police I was used to having good vision, this included knowing how to ascertain which was my dominant eye and the range of my vision. Whilst at a visit to my optician I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. Over the next few months it became apparent that the cataracts were getting progressively worse causing me some difficulty in the pursuit of my hobbies of golfing and reading. I was referred by my optician to see Mr Agrawal at The Park Hospital. Mr Agrawal spoke to me about my cataracts and the treatment options. Having discussed and considered the treatment options I chose mono-vision lenses, close range vision in one eye and distance vision in the other, this would give me an extended rage of vision. Following surgery at the Park Hospital my vision has vastly improved, giving me both close range and distance vision without the need for glasses. I am now able to read the print in books and can see a gold ball at a distance of over 200 yards.”

“I was referred to Mr Agrawal by my optician further to elevated pressure in my left eye. I was told he was the ‘perfect man for the job’, and this turned out to be an exact description of him. An appointment was arranged in short order. I was seen exactly on time, by a charming and concerned surgeon, who confirmed the elevated pressure, and who then clearly laid out my options, with their respective benefits and costs. Essentially drops (for life), or selective laser trabeculoplasty. When opting for the latter, I asked when he could fit me in for surgery, and was told ‘Why, in about twenty minutes. Let me get set up’. Half an hour later the painless surgery was completed, and four weeks later, on re-examination, the pressure was back to normal. As if by magic. “In November, 2018, I was diagnosed with bilateral normal tension glaucoma. The condition was treated with eye drops until May, 2021, when surgery was suggested to be the best way of bringing my intraocular pressures under control. The pressures at this time were 21 mmHg and 24 mmHg in the right and left eyes respectively. The pressures were not stable and I was likely to suffer further loss of visual field if I continued to rely on the eye drops. I decided to see Mr Agrawal at the Park Hospital, Arnold. My first appointment was in June 2021. Mr Agrawal explained clearly and patiently that preserflo implants were most suitable for my condition and I was duly treated in the Autumn of 2021. At my last appointment in January, 2022, Mr Agrawal was very pleased with the implants and he recorded intraocular pressures of 9mmHg and 11mmHg in the right and left eyes respectively.At all times, Mr Agrawal has been most gracious and reassuring. It has been a privilege to be under his care.”
